What To Consider
When selecting an area rug, consider the color scheme of your room. Look for a rug with a common accent color to create additional emphasis. If your room is brightly colored, opt for a neutral-colored rug to balance it out. If your room is neutral, a vibrant rug can add a much-needed pop of color and statement. In general, dark-colored rugs add warmth to a room, while light-colored rugs make a space appear larger. If you have pets or children, consider a dark or multi-colored rug to hide dirt and stains. If you're using a rug to define a space, leave no more than two feet of carpet past the edge of the furniture.
